Siena rallied from a 13-point second half deficit to defeat Fairfield 72-65 in overtime in the MAAC title game Monday night in Albany. The Saints earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament where they have won First Round games each of the last two years.
Top-seeded Siena goes for its third straight MAAC Tournament title this evening when it hosts #2 seed Fairfield in a 7 p.m. tip here at Times Union Center. The winner of the game gets the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's automatic berth into the field of 65 for the NCAA Tournament.

Siena baseball split a doubleheader at South Alabama Saturday afternoon, winning game one 6-2 and losing game two, 12-6. The Saints have won two of the first three games against South Alabama and wrap up the four-game series tomorrow at noon.
Boston College jumped out to a 4-0 lead and rolled past Siena 20-5 Saturday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Brook Blue, Sam Taylor and Kristin Igoe each scored four goals for the Eagles. Junior attackman Caitlin Mikel led the Saints with three points and freshman Katie Maguire had two goals.
Siena squandered a four-goal lead and lost to Hartford 13-11 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference neutral site game in Hempstead, N.Y. Freshman attackman Danny Martinsen tallied four points and senior midfielder Shaun Dunn scored three goals in the loss.
Alex Franklin scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and Ryan Rossiter added 10 points and 12 boards to help Siena rally past Manhattan 78-61 in the MAAC Quarterfinals Saturday in Albany. The Jaspers scored the first nine points and led until the 15:26 mark of the second half before Siena closed the game on a 30-12 run to move on to the semifinal round for the fifth straight season and 11th time in 13 years.
Robert Tedesco pitched six strong innings to pick up his first college win and the Siena offense provided more than enough support with 13 hits in a 10-6 win at South Alabama Friday night.
Siena women's basketball shot 28.6% from the field, had 22 turnovers and was knocked out of the MAAC Tournament quarterfinals by No. 2 seeded Iona 59-43 Friday morning at Times Union Center. For the second straight tournament game, the No. 7 seeded Saints shot under 33%. But the Gaels proved to be tougher than Siena's First Round opponent and the Saints couldn't slip past them.
Siena College senior goalie Brent Herbst has been named to the 2010 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List. The Tewaaraton Award, established in August of 2000, is the pre-eminent lacrosse award presented annually to the NCAA men's and women's lacrosse Player of the Year.
Senior forward Alex Franklin has been named the MAAC Player of the Year as announced at the conference's awards banquet Thursday night here at Times Union Center. It marks the second straight season that a Siena player has been honored by the conference's highest honor, following Kenny Hasbrouck's recognition last season.
Siena's defense held Rider to a MAAC Tournament record for fewest points and its offense started moving in the second half as it defeated the Broncs 45-25 in the First Round of the Tournament Thursday afternoon in Albany. Rider made just 8-of-55 shots from the field (14.5%) and MAAC Second Team selection Serena Moore posted her seventh double-double of the season and second in as many games.
Junior Caitlin Mikel posted her second 11-point game of the season as Siena defeated Bryant 14-11 Wednesday evening at Siena Turf Field. Mikel was in on seven of the team's 11 goals in the second half.
